Mood Photo

To me, this photo induces a sense of happiness and a carefree feeling. The bright colors of the flowers reminds me of the spring time and make me feel joy. This photo puts me in an optimistic and positive mood and changes my attitude to bemore hopeful.

Color Grids

This is my complimentry colors photo. The green and red-orange colors in this leaf exsentuate eachother and draw the observer's eye.

This photo has cool green colors of trees and leaves in nature that all agree with eachother.

This grid shows bright yellows and reds in contrst to cooler purple shades. Thee are all photos of a pile of fallen leaves in Washington Park.

This is a monochrome photo of a beautiful rose in the Rose Garden. It is relaxing and almost soothing with its crean and orange colors.
This is a bright warm toned grid of many flowers. The occurence of bright yellows catches the observer's eye and compliments the pinks and bright purples.

Close Up

This photo shows a variety of colors and they really pop against the darker backround,
letting the observers eye's focus on the diversity of color.

Filling the Frame

I took this photo while walking through the Rose Garden.
There are so many beautiful flowers there, it is unlike any other garden in the world.

Filling the Frame

This photo was taken downtown, it always amazes me that in Portland there is
nature even in the middle of the city and I adore that. The neutral tones of the bark makes
the green moss stand out and appear more vibrant and colorful.

Bug's Eye View

This photo is of the same tree as the previous picture, but at a different angle.
By editing it to look black and white it gives a completely different
look than another photo of the same object.

Leading Lines

The pipes and abnormal winding shapes in this photo draw the observers
eyes to the shadows agains the wall.

Filling the Frame

The metal box against the ivy covered wall brings the observers
eye to the contrast in color.

This summer was the best and most transformative so far. Over the summer I worked in the mornings at the pool teaching kids from he age of 4 to the age of 11 how to swim. This was my second year working at this job and I still genuinely enjoyed it, I've always loved swimming and little kids so this is an ideal combination.

When I wan't working I usually spent my time with my friends. As someone who goes to school on the West side of Portland but lives on the East side, it can be hard to coordinate plans with friends who live so far away. So this summer I spent most of my time with the friends who I have made over the last year who go to different schools and live on the East side. This also gave me the chance to explore the area that I live in more, and as East Portland is alive with creativity and excitement, especially in the summer months, this was a really good experience. Over the summer I would go on bike rides a lot, have picnics and walk around on Mt. Tabor, play soccer at local parks with my friends, and try to find new food to try in the many and varied restaurants available.

I also tried to expose myself to more nature and the outdoors this sumer by biking and walking around. The most adventurous thing I did this summer was white water rafting. I went for a family adventure and ended up really enjoying it, we went off the tallest commercially rafted waterfall in the Pacific NorthWest and I jumped off a bridge that was 20 feet in the air. This is a bit out of my usual daily routine though this experience made me realize I would like to incorporate activities like this more in my life. We also spent some time as a family at Cannon Beach, admiring Haystack Rock and the cold waters.
